Archaeological Park

For the second consecutive year the Secretariat of State for youth and sports of the Sadr and the Association of friendship with the Sahrawi people of Seville organised SAHARA BIKE RACE, an event animator and solidarity to meet the complex life of the Saharans in the refugee camps and in the wilderness, living in their tents and share their culture. This extraordinary bike tour goes through a wild area of true Western Sahara, Sands, dunes, rocks, great esplanades covered fossil enjoying sweeping landscapes, of nights under the stars and the hospitality of the Saharan people and the richness of their Bedouin culture. Previously, in refugee camps, participants shared the daily life of the Sahrawi people in exile, knowing their tents, their places of meeting, souks, its history and its customs, such as the tea ceremony, to verify that adversities do not make them lose their ability to spread optimism and hope. The participants of the SAHARA BIKE RACE II will travel a distance of 350 kilometers, in parallel to the wall built by Morocco to divide in two Western Sahara and separated Saharan families between occupation and exile. A journey of from the refugee camps to Western Sahara freed under the slogan: breaks the wall. The caravan of cyclists will depart from Seville in charter flight and arrive in the Sahrawi refugee camps in Algeria, in particular at the wilaya of Laayoune.

From there the cyclists will depart with destination to Tifariti (capital of the liberated territories), where the meeting will take place with the Bedouins living in the heart of the Sahara desert and a visit to the impressive Archaeological Park of Erqueyez. This adventurous, sports, solidarity and vindicating proposal will take place from 26 March to 4 April 2010, during Holy week. Its price, 900 euros, includes flight from Seville and internal transfers, full Board, technical and medical assistance, insurance, visa and the Sahara Bike Race kit.
